Features of bacterial conjunctivitis:

- watering eyes,
- itching or burning and
- sensitivity to light.
Although rare, bacterial conjunctivitis can lead to more severe problems such as keratitis (inflammation of the cornea), which can affect vision if left untreated. In sporadic cases, the infection can spread to other parts of the eye or the tissues around the eye, causing orbital cellulitis that requires emergency medical attention. If signs of a more serious infection appear, it is imperative to seek immediate medical attention.
