Customer Questions:
Does Detralex have side effects? Are these dangerous?
Pharmacist's response:
Most of the time, medicines make our lives easier. They relieve pain, fight infection, and control problems such as high blood pressure or diabetes. But medications can also cause unwanted side effects, such as drug interactions, side effects, and allergies.
Detralex can have side effects like all medicines, which do not occur in all patients.
- Common side effects (may affect up to 1 in 10 patients): diarrhea, dyspepsia, nausea, vomiting.
- Uncommon side effects (may affect up to 1 in 100 patients): Colitis.
- Rare side effects (may affect up to 1 in 1,000 patients): dizziness, headache, feeling sick, rash, itching, hives.
- Side effects with an unknown frequency (the frequency cannot be estimated from the available data): isolated edema (swelling) of the face, lips, or eyelids; exceptionally, Quincke's edema (rapid swelling of tissues such as the face, lips, mouth, tongue or throat, which may result in breathing difficulties).
Tell your doctor or pharmacist if any side effect becomes severe or if you notice any side effect not mentioned in this leaflet.
What are the side effects?
Side effects are unwanted, usually unpleasant effects caused by medicines. Most side effects are generally mild, such as stomach pain, dry mouth, or drowsiness, and go away when you stop taking medication - but some can be more serious. In addition, from time to time, treatment can negatively affect your disease and cause side effects. For example, if you have heart disease, some decongestants can cause your heart to beat faster.
How do I stay safe while taking medication?
When you start taking a new prescription or over-the-counter medicine, ensure you understand how to use it properly. Know which other medicines, foods, and supplements you should avoid if you take a specific medication.
If you have questions about your medication or perhaps do not fully understand the instructions for use, always consult your doctor or pharmacist.
