Customer question - tooth erosion
I have big problems with tooth erosion. My enamel is dissolving rapidly due to stomach problems. Please, which mouthwash and toothpaste do you recommend?
Pharmacist's answer:
First, we recommend using a soft and gentle toothbrush (e.g., CS 5460 or even CS 12460) to clean the teeth thoroughly without damaging them. Of course, the brushing technique is also essential - with soft brushes like ours, a modified Bass technique is recommended, where half of the bristles are placed on the teeth, half on the gums, and the head of the brush is aimed at the gums. In doing so, small circular movements are performed.
The use of interdental brushes is also essential. With their shape, they reach the hidden spaces between the teeth and thus clean even those surfaces that are invisible to the eye. There are as many as 30% of them. It is recommended that it has incredibly soft and long bristles and a thin, flexible, and durable wire core. Again, we recommend CPS prime, maybe even CPS period (depending on the size of the interdental spaces).
As far as chemical support is concerned, i.e., choice of mouthwash and toothpaste - the toothpaste should not contain abrasive particles (RDA should be as low as possible, but certainly below 60) and other harmful agents (e.g., microplastics), triclosan, SLS). It should have a mild taste without solid aromas. From the Curaprox range, this is Enzycal or Perio plus support (if any other oral health problems are indicated). It is the same with the use of mouthwash. We do not recommend it for daily use, as the first step is to take care of the mechanical removal of dental plaque. If this is disabled, the "help" of mouthwash comes into play.
The customer should consult their dentist about the appropriate choice of mouthwash (if necessary) for tooth erosion.
