Customer question:
How do we notice Impetigo in its early stages? Anonymous customer's question
Pharmacist's answer:
Some key signs and symptoms can be recognized Impetigo in the initial stage:
- Small red dots: The infection starts with small red dots, often itchy.
- Bubbles: These red dots quickly develop tiny bubbles filled with a clear or cloudy liquid.
- Rapid spread: blisters can quickly enlarge and spread to other areas of the skin.
- Bursting blisters: the blisters soon burst, leaving behind red sores.
- Honey-yellow scabs: the sores begin to dry and form the characteristic honey-yellow scabs. These scabs are one of the most characteristic signs of Impetigo.
The initial symptoms of Impetigo usually appear around the nose and mouth. Still, they can also appear on other parts of the body, especially in damaged skin areas (scratches, insect bites, eczema). The infection is highly contagious, so it can quickly spread to other parts of the body or other people through contact with infected objects or skin.
