On warmer days, we prefer to move outside, and with outdoor activities we are also more exposed to scratches, wounds and abrasions, as well as various infections. Children are particularly vulnerable to such injuries. Proper care of minor wounds helps to maintain healthy skin and prevent possible infections, especially when it comes to wounds that have been in contact with the ground or. ground.
The course of wound healing
Wound healing takes place in three stages: the stage of inflammation, the stage of proliferation, and the stage of recovery. The inflammatory response in the beginning is important as it triggers an immune response and attracts the cells needed to heal wounds. Numerous tests show that a high level of inflammation is only needed at the beginning of the healing process and decreases when the risk of infections is reduced. Wound healing can be slowed down if the inflammation, for example due to a wound infection, lasts longer. When there is an increased risk of infection, the use of antiseptic products helps prevent the recurrence of infection-related inflammation.
Bepanthen Plus is now also in spray
The treatment with the already well-known Bepanthen Plus cream now complements the novelty in wound care - the Bepanthen Plus spray.
The use of Bepanthen Plus spray combines rinsing and infection prevention. The spray can be used at an early stage, when the wound is still bleeding, as it allows easy and hygienic application without touching. Bepanthen Plus cream is suitable for later stages of wound healing because it prevents the development of bacteria and wound inflammation, which could slow healing. Bepanthen Plus cream and spray are thus a good combination for the care of superficial wounds, as they prevent skin infections and accelerate the healing of the epidermis.
Bepanthen® Plus spray and cream contain chlorhexidine, which disinfects the wound, and dexpanthenol, which promotes skin regeneration. Chlorhexidine is an antiseptic that has a strong antibacterial effect on clinically important Gram-positive bacteria and thus prevents infection on the skin surface. Dexpanthenol passes into the skin quickly and easily after application. In skin cells, it is converted to pantothenic acid (vitamin B5), which significantly affects the formation and renewal of skin epithelium, accelerates wound healing and relieves inflammation. Bepanthen Plus creams or sprays are used for irritated skin when there is no possibility of infection (eg sunburn).
When is it necessary to visit a doctor?
In some cases, medical attention is urgently needed:
• dirt or foreign matter in the wound that cannot be removed,
• for bites,
• bleeding that does not stop
• for injuries deeper than 5 mm,
• for incisions in sensitive areas (eg on the face or joints),
• in injuries with gaping edges of the wound,
• in chronic wounds,
• in second and third degree burns,
• if tetanus vaccination needs to be resumed.
