Customer Questions:
I have problems with lymph stagnation in the leg area. How can I help myself?
Pharmacist's response:
Your lymphatic system is an integral part of your vascular system, as it removes toxins from the body and thus protects you from diseases. It consists of an extensive network of lymphatic vessels that carry lymph through the body toward the heart. Unfortunately, lymph circulation can quickly become stagnant because this system does not have a pump, instead relying on muscle contraction and relaxation to move. Lymphatic dysfunction, therefore, means that the lymphatic system is not working correctly.
A poorly functioning lymphatic system causes tissues with surrounding fluid to swell. This type of condition is also called lymphedema, which usually causes swelling of the hands or feet, but other body parts can also be affected.
You can even be born with lymphatic problems that cause lymphedema to develop, which is called hereditary or primary lymphedema. It can also be the result of various complex genetic conditions.
Lymphedema can also develop due to certain disease complications or damage to the lymph nodes - this is called secondary lymphedema. Secondary lymphedema is, among other things, a widespread side effect of cancer treatment.
Lymphatic dysfunction is a chronic condition, but treatments are available to limit its progression.
Detralex and the lymphatic system
Detralex film-coated tablets are intended to treat symptoms of chronic venous insufficiency, lymphedema, and acute hemorrhoidal syndrome. The medicine is used primarily in the case of symptoms of chronic vein disease, so taking medicine in case of lymph stagnation in the legs is a sensible decision.
