Scientists have repeatedly confirmed that resveratrol is the most powerful antioxidant. However, they also pointed out that it is almost impossible to consume so much with natural resources that one could expect health benefits from it. At a recent round table, where esteemed Slovenian experts gathered at the end of a new study on resveratrol, we learned what is the best way to take resveratrol.
Resveratrol, a completely natural substance contained in some plants and fruits, is credited with many health benefits, and the public was certainly most surprised to find that taking resveratrol could even prevent cancer. Because scientists don’t want to make such big promises just like that, as they vouch for them with their name, research with resveratrol has, of course, been repeated several times, but the result has always been the same. “The anticarcinogenic effects are numerous. Resveratrol inhibits only the initiation of carcinogenesis and acts as a blocking compound against chemical carcinogens from the external environment. But this is not the only phase affected by resveratrol. Later, it binds to many enzymes of oncogenic signaling cascades, blocking them, preventing the formation of new blood vessels that supply the tumor with nutrients, and thus inhibiting it. It also inhibits the proliferation and division of cancer cells, ”explains prof. dr. Urban Bren, mentor and project manager and vice dean of the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology in Maribor, who also gained his scientific experience in Chicago and Vienna. He emphasizes that these findings are still the basis for further research. "Although resveratrol cannot be seen as a cure for cancer, it can be a great protection against cancer." Holists believe that our health in the future depends largely on our choices in the present. What we eat, what we think, how we live ... if we decide to include resveratrol intake in our daily lives, it is a great investment in our health in the future. Especially if someone in the family already has or has had any of the chronic diseases (cancer, cardiovascular disease, diabetes, etc.), it is wise to protect yourself preventively, and resveratrol is a great choice.
NUMBER OF HEALTH EFFECTS
Resveratrol not only protects against cancer, but also works where a person needs it. It has tremendous health effects. It is best known for its antioxidant action, and it also has an anti-inflammatory effect, which should not be ignored. It protects the cardiovascular system and inhibits the formation of blood clots, which can prevent a heart attack or stroke. Resveratrol also plays a role in fat metabolism and thus protects us from obesity and the associated risks, such as diabetes, "says some of the most important effects of prof. dr. Bren, prof. dr. Only Kreft from the Faculty of Pharmacy of the University of Ljubljana continues that resveratrol could be one of the main supporters in all diabetics, including those who are already taking medication or receiving injections of insulin. “Resveratrol works by different mechanisms. Some of them prevent diabetes or metabolic syndrome, while another set of mechanisms is triggered when diabetes already appears. Then the body requires larger amounts of insulin, with resveratrol increasing the body’s susceptibility to insulin. In this way, the body makes better use of even smaller amounts of insulin, ”he explains.
After reading everything, you are probably not surprised by the belief that taking resveratrol ensures a longer and more vital life. If we can prevent disease, we will undoubtedly prolong our lives. “Resveratrol directly affects the action of telomeres (the ends of chromosomes), which lengthen them and activate the sirtuin receptor with a similar effect to starvation. Starvation or calorie restriction has been shown to prolong life, and the use of resveratrol in the body partially triggers mechanisms similar to starvation, "explains prof. dr. Craft.
BENEFITS ONLY WITH SUFFICIENT CONCENTRATION
Resveratrol is found in grapes, red wine, peanuts, blueberries, chocolate and berries, and the best natural source of resveratrol is Japanese knotweed root, experts point out. However, as explained by Dr. Kreft, “to achieve the effects of resveratrol from research, you would have to consume 200 mg of pure resveratrol, which would mean 20 liters of wine (a day!), And here the negative effects of alcohol would be much greater than the positive resveratrols. Even if you were to directly eat the tops of Japanese knotweed, you would have to eat a pound of tops a day, which is almost impossible. Most research has been done with 200 mg daily, such intake also consistently gives good results. However, this is not guaranteed at lower doses. "
Resveratrol is therefore best taken in the form of a dietary supplement in which each capsule contains 200 mg of pure resveratrol. Concerned about whether we can ingest an overdose of resveratrol, prof. dr. Bren replies, “Anything can be poison, it’s just a matter of concentration. Even (distilled) water can be overdosed. However, even in large amounts, resveratrol shows neither toxic nor major side effects. Rather, the problem is bioavailability if it is administered in insufficient doses. " For example, some studies have even been conducted on the use of resveratrol with a daily intake of 2,000 mg, but the health benefits were not significantly greater than with the use of 200 mg resveratrol per day. Thus, 200 mg of resveratrol seems to be the perfect daily concentration that a person needs to be able to enjoy all its benefits. This amount is contained in the highest quality dietary supplements resveratrol.
EXPERIENCE
Resveratrol has been available on our market for quite some time and more and more people are using it. Why should we enjoy several supplements at the same time, when we can take care of almost all problems with one! Janez Erčulj, M.Sc., told us more about the experiences of those who have already taken resveratrol or are still taking it. pharmacy and the owner of the Pharmacy at Kranjski orl, which is in constant contact with patients and listens to their experiences. “Customers taking resveratrol report significantly better well-being. From practice, it has been proven to have a positive effect on immunity and the immune system, as people do not get sick. People who take resveratrol regularly report improved levels of lipids (fats), lowered blood pressure and sugar. For some, these values have declined, while for others they have at least slowed down. It is recommended to take it regularly on a daily basis, which does not have any problematic negative side effects, ”reveals the expert, who has also experienced the effectiveness of resveratrol on his own skin. “Some time ago, I measured the elasticity index of my arterial wall, and because it was worse, even though I was 33 years old, I started taking dietary supplements, including resveratrol. After three months of regular consumption, the elasticity of the arterial walls has improved, ”he told us.
Also prof. dr. Bren mentions that he takes resveratrol to boost his immune system, while promising all the other positive effects. The predictions seem to be true. Resveratrol is a molecule of the future and we humans will soon be consuming it often as vitamin C, but it is already overtaking coenzyme Q10 due to all the positive effects.
The best choice is the dietary supplement Resveratrol Forte
A study conducted at the Faculty of Chemistry and Chemical Technology in Maribor found that for the same antioxidant effect as one tablet of the dietary supplement Resveratrol Forte, you should consume 1 kilogram or one liter of goji berries or blueberries a day. , which are a rich source of antioxidants. This is almost impossible. Therefore, according to experts, we will only achieve the real health effects of resveratrol if we take resveratrol regularly.
